Well Jennifer, software is just a tool - so use whichever you are comfortable with. :)

Great cupcakes by the way.

Thanks for posting this! I have no experience with vectors but decided to try them out for making a shirt design - your tutorial here was the perfect crash course and I ended up making some cupcakes (http://fyrewurks.com/2009/10/my-crash-course-in-vectors-resulted-in-clip-art-cupcakes/) using these principles (but I used PSP).

Thanks again!!

Great tutorial.
I didn't really understand the Inset Operation tho. I use Inkscape.

My outcome: http://i374.photobucket.com/albums/oo181/ZeeGraphicz/Illustrations/Feather-1.png

Johny, in Inkscape, select the shape(s) and then choose Object > Fill and Stroke from menu. Or you can use the [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[F].

In the dialog box that comes up, in the 'Stroke' tab, choose the left most 'x' to tell Inkscape that you dont want outlines around the selected shape(s).

Thank you for your nice work. I tried to follow your tutorial, and it was really easy to get a glimps of what inkscape is capable of.

Keep up the great work, and have a really nice day.
