Demon Trio - Slice

With all the setup done in Part 1 and Part 2, this one was quite straight forward and easy.

Demon Trio - Slice - 09 - Basic Painting Completed

As with the skin, I complete the painting for the rest of the parts. To do this, I use the flat colors layer to select the appropriate areas and then paint on the ‘Painting’ layer without worrying about painting over the other things.

This does result in it having rather jagged and sharp edges.

Demon Trio - Slice - 10 - Soft Edge

On another layer over them all, I take a soft air brush and go over the edges softening up the hard edges and putting in any corrections that may be required. For example, the spikes like things coming out of his skin required a bit of correction to the rendering of the skin.

Demon Trio - Slice - 11 - Layer Setup

The ‘Highlights + Shadows’ Layer is something I save for the last. On that layer, I paint the bright areas with a rather high intensity color of the light. The shadows give of the protruding things on his body, give depth to the painting.
