About Vyoma

Photograph of Mahesh Bhat KMy name is Mahesh Bhat, and I am the person behind KalaaLog.

I am a 25 year old Indian, and have a day job as an engineer at a IT service company. Though, the day job takes a lot of my time, I write regularly at my personal blog and also indulge in different arts.

KalaaLog is an outcome of my dabbling in different forms of art, and also the level of activity caused at Splat at the beginning of the year 2007 as a result of publishing some of my artworks.

I did not have any formal training in any forms of arts, except for the recent classes I have taken in Wester Classical Music on Guitar for about an year. But I have been sketching for as long as I can remember, and have worked on water colors – oil medium recently. Lately, I have been involved in CG – Computer Graphics.

My artworks, though do have a influence of the west, still finds its roots in the myths and culture of India – a lot of which I owe to the influence my elders have had on me. If it were not for their patience to tell the stories and mythologies of India when I posed them with innumerable questions, my knowledge would have been limited to a mere subset of what I know.

KalaaLog is an effort on my behalf to log the artworks I create and also to share what I learn along the way.

I offer services as an illustrator and painter. You may contact me for specific details.

    Thanks for the great tutorials.

Although I have been an artist and teacher for a while, I am just getting started using Inkscape and appreciate your generosity in contributing your techniques to the world.

I am learning how to draw birds and I like the way your sketches are done. Do you have a book on drawing birds? Or is there a site that influenced you? Yours show the underlying anatomy, not just the superficial. (Which is what would be helpful to me.)

To be more accurate: your sketches highlight the underlying anatomy of birds, which is hidden. I am OK drawing animals whose muscles are visible, like cats!
